Supported by Software Development Managers and senior leadership, you will have the autonomy to shape team processes, mentor developers, and foster a high-performing team.

Your daily life
In your day to day, you will be led to:
Lead, mentor, and support a team of 3-6 developers, helping them grow their technical and leadership skills while fostering a collaborative, inclusive team culture aligned with Petal’s values;
Provide clear technical direction, enforce coding standards, and promote best practices to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and scalable software solutions;
Collaborate closely with various stakeholders to define technical requirements, timelines, and priorities that align with business goals;
Translate project deliverables into actionable development tasks, establish clear milestones, and monitor progress to ensure on-time delivery;
Identify risks, potential bottlenecks, and technical challenges early on, working proactively with the team to remove blockers and maintain project momentum;
Foster a culture of ownership by promoting the “you build it, you run it” philosophy, ensuring the team takes responsibility for supporting and maintaining their work in production;
Drive continuous improvement efforts by evaluating tools, processes, and workflows, encouraging experimentation and innovation where appropriate;
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to understand individual team member goals, challenges, and development opportunities, providing ongoing feedback and coaching;
Focus on stabilizing team performance and addressing immediate technical and operational challenges, while supporting team members through day-to-day guidance and effective management;
Recognize team and individual achievements, celebrate milestones, and create opportunities for knowledge sharing to strengthen team cohesion and morale;
Promote a healthy work-life balance by encouraging sustainable workloads, recognizing signs of burnout, and ensuring the team feels supported in managing their time and responsibilities.
Job requirements
Your profile
You are a seasoned software professional with a strong technical foundation and proven leadership skills. You have a passion for mentoring and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar technical leadership role;
Proven track record of managing and growing technical teams in fast-paced environments;
Strong leadership with the ability to inspire, motivate, and hold team members accountable;
Advanced technical knowledge across front-end and back-end development;
Hands-on experience with:
PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, Angular, Node.js
MySQL, Docker, Git
Comfortable using Linux or macOS
Familiarity with AWS services such as ECS and Lambda (an asset);
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal;
Strong interpersonal skills; thrives in collaborative, close-knit teams;
Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
Proven experience working effectively in remote environments;
Strategic, solution-oriented thinker with a focus on successful project delivery.
