What to expect when joining the team

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President of Business Strategy, Petal is looking for a Vice-President of Business Development to play a key role in our marketing and growth organization to define, coordinate and lead Petal’s strategy and roadmap for growth in the Canadian market.


You will work to identify opportunities to increase awareness of Petal’s innovative solutions, working cross-functionally with marketing and sales teams to develop new partnerships and reach new customers. You will be responsible for building relationships with senior executives and leaders in the healthcare community to defining how Petal can work with regional and international partners to accelerate growth. As market development lead for the Canadian market, you will work with sales leaders and engineers to close new opportunities and build a portfolio of new business.


Main responsibilities

Based out of the province of the GTA, you will be led to :

  • Ensure alignment between responsible areas and Petal’s overall growth strategy;
  • Demonstrate accountability for ensuring that established revenue targets are met;
  • Identify new opportunities and define market growth strategy;
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships to explore new opportunities with large growth potential to scale the business;
  • Research emerging trends and recommend new company offerings to satisfy customers’ needs;
  • Build productive relationships with customers, as well as sales and marketing teams;
  • Develop in-depth understanding of company offerings to identify business opportunities;
  • Direct marketing efforts by presenting market research to marketing directors and suggesting strategies to expand market research;
  • Present partnership opportunities to company executives and management;
  • Supervise and scale a pan-canadian team of Business Development specialists.

Are you a tech-savvy, senior business development professional, recognized for your ability to identify and communicate the value proposition of complex technical solutions? Do you stand out for your excellent problem solving skills and business judgement? Are you looking for an opportunity to participate in the growth of a high-potential, rapidly evolving organization? The sky is the limit! If you have :

  • A minimum of 15 years of business development, sales, or strategic alliance / partnering experience;
  • Relevant experience in the healthcare and/or technology space;
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA highly preferred;
  • Experience managing senior-level external stakeholders with accountability for results;
  • Demonstrated success negotiating and delivering high-impact partnerships that achieve measurable results;
  • Empathy and ability to address problems from the partner and end-user point of view;
  • Excellent ability to deliver results in a very fast-paced and dynamic environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact / influence / negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers.
