What to expect when joining the team
As Director of Product Design, you will manage a growing team of product designers, working on various products with various levels of maturity. You will work with Product Management Directors and Lead POs to define and lead strategy, vision, roadmap and hiring plan of all Petal product lines, to help shape the future of Petal.

You will be the user advocate of your team, setting user-centric methods (design thinking, lean UX, User research strategy, etc) to make the Petal experience consistent and useful for our clients and our end-users from the healthcare industry. Reporting to the VP of Technology, you'll work at promoting UX and design throughout the company.

What you’ll do

Based out of the province of Quebec, you will:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of product designers to deliver career-defining work;
  • Partner with Product and Tech to collectively set the mission, vision and strategy;
  • Structure the collaboration between the product designers and the Product Managers/Product Owners/Technology Team and create an environment that gives people a sense of inclusion & belonging;
  • Bring user-centric thinking and processes (user testing strategy, user research…) to technically complex problems and products;
  • Challenge the status quo on creativity and quality of design work across the team to offer the best class experience to healthcare workers;
  • Maintain the long-term objective to refine and evolve our visual style (design system strategy) across everything we do.

Job requirements

Your profile

Are you an experienced product design professional who thrives on developing great people as much as great products? Are you recognized for your willingness to get hands-on, partnering closely with designers and engineering teams? Are you looking for an opportunity to make your mark and directly impact the success of our products and company? The sky is the limit! If you have:

  • 5+ years of people management experience with designers in a fast-paced product development environment and 8+ years of relevant design experience in digital products;
  • Advanced knowledge of UX methodologies and frameworks, UX research and design tools, and design systems, but most importantly, you have already implemented them at an enterprise level;
  • A passion for developing designers and their careers;
  • The ability to build deep ongoing relationships with stakeholders;
  • A humble, empathetic, and people-centric approach to management.
